Birding

Birding enthusiasts flock to Uvalde County year round to see the variety of species that we have to offer. We are famous for our Golden Cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo. Uvalde River Country is also home to the 2nd largest Mexican Free-tail Bat Colony in the world. Uvalde County is located on the famous migration path of the Monarch Butterflies. Uvalde River Country hosts nature photographers year round looking for the perfect photograph of some of these rare species.
Rodeo

Uvalde County is home to many rodeos on several different circuits. In 2012, Uvalde County will be debuting a state of the art Rodeo Facility that will host livestock and rodeo events year round. Ranch Rodeo’s are popular with visitors who enjoy watching local ranches square off in “Real Ranch” events.
Tubing / Kayaking

Blessed with miles and miles of clear, fast running rivers, Sabinal, Frio and Nueces, our Uvalde River Country caters to those who enjoy tubing particularly during the spring and summer. No where in North America is the tubing more fun, enjoyable or breathtakingly beautiful. The rivers offer rapids, fast moving water, and occasional long and deep pools. If you listen closely the ancient cypress trees lining the banks sometimes tell the tales of the early days long before and during early Spanish exploration and stories of long forgotten buried treasure. Peaceful or exciting and maybe a combination of the two await those who float and or kayak the three rivers of "Uvalde River Country". Oh, you say you don't own a tube or kayak? No problem, both are readily available!
