The following is an excerpt of the presentation made by Judge Mitchell and Sheriff Crawford:
On July 21, 2007 during a time of
dangerous flooding in
Roy Glasscock and Jim White were able to
take action to rescue Mrs. Curry and escort her to safety.
Roy Glasscock and Jim White are saluted,
honored and recognized for their selfish act in coming to the rescue of Mrs.
Curry.

CONSIDER AND
ACT UPON RATIFICATION OF TAX RATE REFLECTED IN PROPOSED BUDGET:
The following was read to the
Court by Alice Chapman,
“This General Fund budget will raise more total property taxes than last
year’s budget by $231,470.97, and of that amount $83,913.07 is tax revenue to
be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.”
“This Road & Bridge budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $482,494.49, and of that amount $24,091.57 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.”

The Court unanimously (4-0) approved to ratify the tax rate reflected in the proposed 2007-2008 budget.

CONSIDER AND
ACT UPON PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED TAX RATE FOR 2007-08:
The second of two public hearings was held concerning the proposed tax rate. The first hearing was held at the Court’s meeting of August 27, 2007. No action was taken under this agenda item.
Tax rates required to fund the 2007-2008 Uvalde County Budget are as follows:
General Fund Tax Rate: $ .4395
General Fund Debt Rate: $

FM/Flood Debt Rate: $ .0007
TOTAL TAX RATE $ .5697
Noel Troxclair was the only member of the public at the hearing and he spoke against any tax increases.

ACT UPON SETTING PUBLIC HEARING TO ADOPT PROPOSED TAX RATE:
Judge Mitchell recommended that the tax rate be adopted at a meeting of the Court set for Monday, September 24, 2007. No action was taken under this agenda item.

CONSIDER AND
ACT UPON ADOPTION OF 2007-2008 UVALDE

The Court unanimously (4-0) approved to adopt the 2007-2008 Uvalde County Budget. The budget will be effective October 1, 2007 and a copy of the same is attached to these minutes.
