MINUTES
The Uvalde County Commissioners Court met in regular session at 10 a.m. on January 14, 2008, in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Uvalde County Courthouse, with the following members present:
William R. Mitchell, County Judge
Randy Scheide, Commissioner #1

Jerry W. Bates, Commissioner #3

Lucille C. Hutcherson, County Clerk and Ex-Officio Clerk of the
Commissioners Court of Uvalde County
Also present were County Treasurer Joni Deorsam, County Tax Assessor-Collector Maggie Del Toro, County Auditor Alice Chapman, and Road Administrator Jesse Garcia.
1. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Honorable William R. Mitchell called the meeting of January 14, 2008 to order; gave the invocation; led the pledge of allegiance to the United States of America and Texas flags.
2. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The Minutes of December 10, 2007 and December 17, 2007 were unanimously (4-0) approved, as written.

3. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON OPENING OF BIDS/PROPOSALS:
a. Administrative Services for Disaster Relief Grant:
Esser & Company of Uvalde
The above mentioned was the only proposal submitted for administrative services for the Disaster Relief Grant. Said proposal was set aside for review, with recommendation of the award to be made at the next regular meeting of the Court. No action was taken under this agenda item.
4. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON APPOINTMENT TO UVALDE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

The Court unanimously (4-0) approved of the reappointment of the following members to the Uvalde County Hospital Authority Board of Directors.

5. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON ESTABLISHING MINIMUM LOT SIZE FOR DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS AND FOR HUNTING WITH BOWS AND ARROWS:
Judge Mitchell informed the Court that according to state statute, to promote public safety, the Commissioners Court may prohibit or otherwise regulate the discharge of firearms on lots that are 10 acres or smaller and are located in the unincorporated area of the county in a subdivision. This also applies to hunting with bows and arrows.

6. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON ROAD ADMINISTRATORS REPORT:
Road Administrator Jesse Garcia gave the following activity report, with no action being taken.
-Repairing damaged roads in the Utopia area
-Patching roads
-Routine maintenance
7. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON LINE-ITEM BUDGET AMENDMENTS:
None were presented to the Court for approval.
8. CONSIDER AND ACT UPON PAYMENT OF BILLS:
