· Marriage License fee ($72) shall be paid prior to issuance.
· Marriage License with Premarital Education Certificate ($12) –applicants shall present “certificate” indicating completion of premarital education course (8 hrs) not more than one year before the date the marriage license application is filed with the clerk. The 72 hour waiting period is waived (2.204 FC)
· Marriage License military deployment to a hostile fire zone ($12) – applicant shall present a “Military Order” stating the deployment to a hostile fire zone; deployment shall be within 90 days; 72 hour waiting period is waived
· Informal Marriage fee ($37) shall be paid prior to issuance.
· Marriage License is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance.
· Marriage ceremony may not take place during a 72-hour period immediately following the issuance of the license – unless waived by Judge.
· Applicants must be 18 years of age.
Persons age 16 to 18 may apply for a marriage license with the signed consent of a parent, custodial parent or legal guardian.
· Applicants must present proof of age and identity (valid driver’s license, certified copy of birth certificate with a valid photo ID, passport, etc.).
· Applicants must present their social security cards or know their numbers.
· A divorce by either party must be final 30 days prior to the marriage application.
· A marriage license is recorded in the county where it was purchased.
· The marriage license must be returned to the clerk’s office within 30 days of the event for recording
· A marriage license purchased in any Texas county can be used anywhere in the State of Texas, other state, in most foreign countries (prior confirmation suggested), cruise ship, airplane and other means of transportation..
- Marriage License Search Fee ($21) is non-refundable and will be applied as a search fee or a certified copy fee when the clerk conducts a search of marriage records. Fees shall be paid prior to search.
